Dr. James W. Rawlins
Dr. James W. Rawlins received
his Ph.D. in Polymer Science and Engineering and B.S. in Polymer
Science from The University of Southern Mississippi. In 1999, his
career started at Highland International, Inc. as Technical Director
focusing on product development. In 2000, he transferred to Bayer
Corporation in Pittsburgh where he was a Senior Research Chemist for
the Coatings and Colorants Division. At Bayer’s request, he moved to
Germany with a promotion to Technical Marketing Manager for Powder
Coating Raw Materials EMEA. Recently, James accepted the position of
Assistant Professor of Polymer Science at Southern Miss where he is
involved in polymeric research and development for responsive thin
films, more specifically, competitive degradation mechanisms, embedded
raw material storage for self-repair or self-synthesis, and the
combination of enzymes and proteins with organic polymers.
He has delivered over 50 professional
presentations. James has published six articles, currently holds a
European and U.S. patent, and applied for four additional patents
during 2003. James is a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS),
American Oil Chemists’ Society (AOCS) New Uses Council (NUC), The
Association for the Advancement of Industrial Crops (AAIC), Federation
of Societies for Coatings Technology (FSCT), Southern Society for
Coatings Technology (SSCT), and Powder Coatings Institute (PCI). |
